Lestonia has been an educator at the School District of Philadelphia for 30 years. She has served as a Comprehensive Day Care Teacher, Autistic Support Teacher, Emotional Support Teacher, Learning Support Teacher, Resource Teacher, Coach for Elementary/Special Education Student Teachers from Temple and Saint Joseph Universities, Special Education Liaison, and Special Education Compliance Monitor. For the last year and half, Lestonia worked with The Pennsylvania Department of Education-Bureau of Special Education as a Mentor for Special Education Teachers.

 

Prior to coming to the School District, Lestonia worked as an Assistant Director at the  ABC Learning Center, an Assistant Teacher at Green Tree School in the lower and middle schools, and an Assistant Manager at a major Fast Food Establishment.

 

Lestonia has been a member of BWEA for several years. She works on the Membership Committee. She works closely with June Blue on handling the t-shirts for the BWEA Inc. Although retired, she volunteers three days a week at the Red Cross House located 4000 Powelton Ave. She was recently awarded Volunteer of the Year for 2023.
